I’m out.
By Cagle
I’d like to say that BP runs a fantastic community, and truly cares about keeping his staff and troops happy. I love Aliens, and I hate to go.
That said, I recently brought up concerns over safety after the other leader felt victimized by a staff member. The staff member in question was kept on staff for weeks, despite the concerns surrounding his behavior. This situation was not handled until the issue was brought up to everybody in staff when an unrelated incident involving this staff member came to light. In a server that openly, knowingly has underage members, this was deeply concerning to me.
I didn’t like the way the situation was put off until everybody knew, so I proposed I build an anonymous, fully encrypted reporting system. I ended up finishing the project, and you can still see the reporting form at https://report.aliensofcp.com and read all about how it works. However, I’ve taken its backend server offline, so reports will not be filed as of right now.
When the time came to launch, many of the higher-ranking staff members fell into a massive ego battle over who gets to see the reports, who gets to make the reports, etc. My main focus was creating a system that allowed for issues to be brought up to everybody, as I didn’t want a repeat of the previously mentioned incident. And I certainly didn’t want to risk letting a truly serious case slip through the cracks because of insecurity in the higher ranks.
When I reiterated this point, a few staff members started accusing me of “victim blaming”.
Fuck that. I will not be treated that way, especially when it seems I’m the only one making a proactive effort to improve the safety of this community. I’ve invested time, money and energy into this community because I want to see it be the best it can be. But unfortunately, that cannot happen with childish leaders and HCOM. So, with that, I’m out, and I’m taking my toys with me.
If you have any questions, my DMs are open. I have all of the receipts to back this up.
Sincerely,
Noah Cagle
